A small valley of glacial origin, but with a charm that melts the heart. Located in the Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Nature Park, this is an unspoilt natural paradise. Walking among plants, trees, and streams, you’ll reach 2,200 metres above sea level, where the Baita Segantini hut awaits you. Near the hut, there’s a small lake in which the majestic peaks of the Pale di San Martino massif are reflected. An unmissable natural show!

Cristo Pensante statue
Follow the path to Mt Castellazzo, which will lead you straight to the Cristo Pensante statue. Sitting in a breathtaking spot, this “pensive Christ” has been enjoying the view of the Pale di San Martino massif, Mt Lagorai, and the Adamello Brenta Group since 2009. Perhaps he’s thinking he’s in paradise. After all, he’s close to heaven at 2,333 metres above sea level.

Rifugio Rosetta hut
The most beautiful spot to admire the sunrise and sunset on the Pale di San Martino high plateau. From here, at 2,700 metres above sea level, you’ll feel like you could almost touch the sky. But when is the hut open?
In summer, from mid-June until the end of September. In winter, over the Christmas period until 6 January and every weekend until the lifts close.

Colbricon lakes
Here are two excellent reasons to enjoy a hike! Just a 30-minute walk from our hotel, you’ll find two spectacular lakes set against breathtaking Alpine scenery. Situated respectively at 1,909 metres and 1,922 metres above sea level, the Colbricon lakes seem to be competing to see which can reach the highest. For us, they both win with their sapphire blue colour and the scent of rhododendrons and junipers in the air. Bonus for you: the Rifugio Laghi di Colbricon hut to sample typical Trentino dishes.
Distance: 10km
Lake Welsperg
The peaks of the Pale di San Martino massif are beautiful, but when reflected in the water of this lake, they become spectacular. We’re talking about an Alpine gem in the idyllic Val Canali valley: Lake Welsperg. Legend has it that beautiful young girls with long blond hair, the so-called “guane”, used to live here. Today, on the shores of the lake you’ll find a bar dedicated to these mythological figures, and a 10-minute walk away, the ancient residence of the Counts of Welsperg is not to be missed.
Distance: 16km
Rifugio Pradidali hut
A refuge that blends in perfectly among the mountains. At 2,278 metres above sea level, the Rifugio Pradidali hut is nestled between the rocky walls of the Pale di San Martino massif. How to get there? Set off from San Martino di Castrozza, follow trail marker 702 – 715 to Val di Roda valley, and after about 3h45min you’ll be sitting at a table, overlooking the Valle di Pradidali valley, with a delicious dish of Trentino cuisine in front of you.
Distance: 24km
Lake Calaita
Is it a Monet painting? No, it’s just another gem of the Trentino region. The boundless expanse of fir and larch forests of the Valle del Vanoi valley, the Pale di San Martino massif in the background, and in the middle the crystal-clear waters of Lake Calaita. Sit and admire this spectacle on the terrace of the Rifugio Miralago hut on the shores of the lake. Enchanting in every season: the colours change, but the beauty remains.
Distance: 33km
Fiera di Primiero
Between the Canali and Cismon rivers lies Fiera di Primiero. Stroll through the picturesque alleys of this village, once a fiefdom of the Welsberg family. But what’s that Gothic bell tower that stands out above the historic centre? It’s the Pieve di Fiera di Primiero, a complex formed by two churches and the Palazzo delle Miniere – the palace of the miners in English. Yes, Fiera di Primiero was famous for its silver, copper, and iron mines. A real gem!
